Awesome 0.8 version is released

This version was released after 3 months of continuing development. First of all User Interface was reviewed and improved a lot. Now Plugin Manager allows to enable and disable specific features. 

List of available Plugins : 

  • Online maps. Show settings to configure a variety of online or cached tile maps as base map or as overlay / underlay maps. These maps can also be prepared offline and copied to the OsmAnd folder.
  • Monitoring Plugin. Show settings facilitating to record your trips to GPX files or to live track using a web service.
  • Extra Settings. Display settings for advanced map configuration (like increase map details) and some device-specifics.
  • Accessibility Plugin. Show settings for special accessibility features.
  • Screen off Plugin.Show settings to enable tracking and navigation in sleep (screen off) mode via periodically waking up the GPS device.
Completely new maps are available with improved coastlines / new address and routing data.

Offline routing becomes more robust.

OsmAnd 0.7.3 and other changes

Release 0.7.3 has some critical fix only, there were issues loading GPX files.

Latest development version 0.8 is changing vector map format, which brings us to some changes:

  • Map Creator link is updated to OsmAndMapCreator-marketcompatible.zip instead of development version, as the dev version is not compatible with market version
  • 0.7.3 and above (if any critical issue) will be probably the last release supporting old format maps. New maps are already partially (for testing) generated and some can be downloaded
  • development version in night builds will be the 0.8 version, there is no point building 0.7 anymore. Latest 0.7.x are on market now.
  • 0.8 version has not working off-line routing yet, it is under development (do not report this as bug, please)

OsmAnd 0.7.2 Released!

Changes in version 0.7.2:

  • Enabled native rendering for all devices (higher rendering performance)
  • Offline POI editing (POIs can be edited without internet connection)

Osmand 0.7.1 Released

Changes in 0.7.1:

  • Offline POI editing

  • Show currently recorded track on map
  • Direction detection: 'Make U-turn' is indicated and announced when heading in opposite direction or after missing a turn
  • New voice prompt 'Route recalculated'
  • Optical indication of an imminent turn within 100m by diretion arrow changing color
  • Actuality also of deactivated index files now shown on Download screen in dark green and dark blue
