Plan a route (only for Android version)
The 'Plan a route' feature allows you to measure distances on the map, create GPX tracks or add new segments to your own ones, to snap your track to the nearest available road with one of your navigation profiles. This interface has replaced the older 'Measure distance' tool. We've added new functions and created a completely new look for the utmost convenience to create a route for your trip.
To use this feature, simply go to the main OsmAnd menu and press 'Plan a route'. You'll see the map with a toolbar below. Start by putting the first point on the map and adding the next ones (one or more). To do that, press the 'Add' button or just touch a spot on the map. You'll see the total distance on the toolbar. You can also undo or redo the steps using the arrow buttons.
'Plan a route' mode allows using different navigation types for each segment and attaches any track to the roads. What does it mean?
E.g. you want to have a route for your Enduro trip. The first part of your trip is a road from your home to the offroad part, the second part is an unpaved road, and the third part is a road returning home.
Go to General menu -> Plan a route. Choose "Create a new route", next click to Profile icon and choose Road Profile for the first part of our trip. After that, we add starting and ending points. The first segment is built.
For the second part of our trip we click to Profile icon and choose our Enduro navigation profile (Prefer unpaved roads) and "Next segment" (Only the next segment will be recalculated using a chosen profile). After that we choose points for our offroad trip.
For the last part (going back home) we choose Road profile and add the end point of our trip. Click on the "Done" button and save (and rename) our GPX file with the journey trip.
Now, we click to our track, change Appearance of the track. Click the "Directions" button, and start our trip using the GPX track which we built in "Plane a route" tool.
Next, you can open existing track, import track, or open last edited track.
When you click to "Open existing track" you can select a track file to open.
Now your chosen track is in a plan route mode. Here you can modify it for your trip. You can click "Options" button and choose any parameters for it.
In the general, you can build route between points. Click to this button on the screen or in the Options menu.
Next, snap your track to the nearest available road with one of your navigation profiles to use this option. Here we choose Enduro navigation profile and threshold distance for our route calculation.
When a route is built we click the "Apply" button and "Done" to save a new track or go to "Options" -> "Directions" to start the trip.
As you see, we can modify any track for a trip. Of course, you can delete or add points in the "Plan a route" mode if you want to change it anytime.
You can also measure a distance using the radius ruler tool. To exit the measurement mode, please press the 'X' button in the upper-left corner of the screen.
