Exciting news!
We’re happy to announce the release of OsmAnd 5.0 for Android, now available for download. The update introduces a series of new and improved features that enhance your navigation experience, streamline widget configuration, and make discovering more intuitive than ever.
In this version, enjoy enhanced widgets, including new Route Information and Route Maneuvers options, resizable widgets for side panels, and a new Explore mode to discover nearby POIs.

Route Guidance Widgets Set

The new Route Guidance widget combines essential navigation details into a single, compact display, providing real-time navigation instructions, helping you stay on track throughout your journey. These widgets are active during navigation, ensuring you never miss a turn.
Key improvements:
- All-in-one navigation view — Integrates the distance to the first and next turn, turn arrow, road name, road number with a shield, current street name, exit number, and lane information in one widget.
- Available for top and bottom widget panels.

New Route Information Widget

The Route Information widget provides a clear overview of your journey by displaying ETA (Estimated Time of Arrival), remaining travel time, and distance to the destination in a compact format. Designed for real-time navigation, it ensures you have the most relevant travel details at a glance.
Key features:
- Display priority settings — Select between Destination first (default) or Intermediate first to prioritize the most relevant route information.
- Available for top and bottom widget panels for flexible placement.
- Quick access to Start/Stop Navigation panel — Tap the arrow button to open navigation controls.

Redesigned Configure Screen

The widget Configure screen has undergone a major redesign to enhance usability and streamline the process of adding, customizing, and organizing widgets.
Key changes:
- Add widget screen:
- Widgets and widget groups are sorted alphabetically (A-Z).
- Search functionality works for both widget names and groups.
- Panels — Removed Available widgets and Actions groups for a cleaner interface.
- Widget groups - Removed group icon and Add button, widgets are added separately, improved widget list.
- Widget settings - All widget settings are now grouped together for easier management.
This redesign ensures a consistent experience across Android and iOS, allowing for seamless configuration and management of widgets.

Resizable Widgets for Side Panels

You can now customize the size of widgets in the left and right panels, just like in the top and bottom ones. This update offers greater flexibility in configuring the map screen. Choose from small, medium, or large sizes to customize your screen layout.
Key improvements:
- Independent resizing for left and right panels.
- Consistent widget scaling across all panel positions.
- Optimized screen space for navigation and stats.
These options can be accessed through the Configure Screen menu for widget management or by performing a long tap on the widget directly on the map screen.

Reset Option for the Average Speed Widget

You can now reset the average speed directly from the widget’s context menu. This update adds a Reset action, allowing you to start fresh measurements without restarting navigation.
What’s new:
- Context menu option to reset average speed via long tap on the widget on the map screen.
- Reset action added to the widget settings in the Configure Screen menu for quick access.

Explore Mode: Discover Popular Places

The Explore mode has been introduced, replacing the History tab, making it easier than ever to discover top-ranked points of interest (POIs). Now, you can explore nearby POIs, view their photos on the map, and easily access your Recently visited locations — all within the new Explore tab. This update makes finding interesting places faster and more convenient.
Key features:
- Explore nearby POIs — Discover popular places and top-ranked POIs based on popularity, with helpful photos displayed on the map and in the search results.
- Recently visited - Access your recently visited (history) places within the Explore tab for quick navigation back to previously explored locations.
- Wikipedia integration - Wikipedia entries are combined with POI details, allowing you to view detailed information, including photos and descriptions for each location.
How to use:
Go to Menu → Search → Explore to start discovering nearby POIs and view your recently visited places.

Popular Places (Wikipedia)

The Wikipedia POIs feature is integrated under the new Popular places (Wikipedia) setting in the Configure map menu. This update provides expanded settings for Wikipedia content, giving you more control over your experience.
Key features:
- Image previews - You can now view photos for POIs directly on the map with the Show image previews setting.
- Offline and Online Mode - View Wikipedia POIs without downloading the map data by using the online mode.
How to use:
- Enable the Wikipedia plugin to access wikidata on the map and its settings in the Configure map menu.
- Go to Menu → Configure map → Popular places (Wikipedia) to adjust settings for image previews, language preferences, and data sources.

All OSM Routes – Now Searchable

You can now search and navigate all OSM routes directly in OsmAnd — including hiking, cycling, mountain biking (MTB), and other recreational route types. This update greatly improves route discovery, allowing you to easily find and follow existing paths mapped in OpenStreetMap.
Key features:
- Search by route type and name — Find routes by name or filter by categories like Hiking, Cycling, MTB, and more.
- Route overview in search result — See route name, icon, total distance, and distance to the nearest point before selecting it.
- Start navigation or download GPX — Tap a route to open it and either start navigation or download it as a GPX file.
How to use:
- Go to Menu → Search → Categories → Routes
- Use filters to narrow down results by activity type
- Select a route → tap Navigate or Download
